It’s a small thing but small things add up. Bees and other pollinators are under threat especially from pesticides but also the loss of native food sources due to our large lawns and monoculture practice. I grow a wide variety of flowers to sustain them. One of their favorites is Anise Hyssop. Unfortunately this is also a favorite of Japanese beetles who can quickly strip the flowers. I don’t use pesticides so I can only handpick the beetles. I’m allergic to bee stings but with an epipen in my pocket I carefully reach through the buzzing cloud to pick off dozens of beetles every day.
